1946 Ford Truck Rebuild and installation on an S-10 Suspension. Will be a modern day suspension with all of the goodies and comfort of a modern ride. Follow along as we build our 1946 Ford 1/2 Ton pickup on a 1992 S-10 suspension, using the Affordable Products conversion kit available through EBay.
This will work with 1988 through 1993 S-10 frames with any wheelbase. May work with others. You do want a frame that had the 4.3 engine as that engine uses the same type of engine mounts as the V-8 Chevrolet engine.
There are 5 individual kits to make the complete conversion. You can purchase all or any combination of kits. 1= Frame Kit, 2=Cab Kit,3= Front Clip Kit, 4=Bed Kit and/or 5= Running Board Kit. There is also a brake bracket if mounting the brakes under the floor. All items are priced individually plus freight.
I am not aware of anyone else that makes a kit for these years of Ford 1/2 Ton pickups?
You can also purchase their how to booklet from Amazon Kindle at the link below. Get yours today if your into 1942 through 1947 trucks and want a better handling ride. We will be adding progress photos as time goes by, so check in regularly and tell your friends.

Out first step is to prepare the frame to accept the Ford Truck Sheet metal.
The basic frame conversion kit from Affordable Products comes with all of the required items, including a video of text with very good and clear instructions. Takes about a Saturday to convert the frame to the required wheel base and allow clearance for the front clip, radiator, cab, bed, etc.
The frame conversion kit is shown in the photo below. This does require cutting and welding of the frame so a good welder or friend will be needed. This is the ONLY welding or cutting that is required except for a small amount on the sides of the bed toward the front.
After the frame is prepared, the rest of the process is 100% measure, drill and bolt! Check back as we progress through the process.
Here I am finishing up the frame conversion in my garage. Very simple, but make sure you measure 3 times before cutting or welding anything ;-). If this is scary to you, then find a good friend that is car savvy. This is the hard and dirty part of of all. Notice this is just a rolling chassis. This will be driven so I am not concerned with the frame being spotless. I did install new front A arm bushings, front sway bar bushings, and all ball joints since they were easy to get to. Drag link and tie rod ends will be added later.
We have been very busy in our off time, so here is the cab mounted on the frame. The frame kit is listed on ebay for $495.00 plus freight. Includes the mounts, bushings, original wood kit, bolts, and instructions with measurements. Just measure, drill and bolt. Very simple to do.
The cab is now secured to the frame and every thing else from this point on will be a breeze. We will work on assembly of the new bed next so you can see how it all goes together. Check back as we go to the next phase of our conversion.
